Woman dies in Cork three-vehicle crash

A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene of a three-vehicle collision near Bandon this evening.

A WOMAN IN her 60s has died following a three-vehicle collision near Bandon, County Cork this evening.

The woman, who was the front-seat passenger of one of the vehicles, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene on the N71 Innishannon to Bandon Road at Curranane.

The driver of the same car, a man in his 60s, has been taken to Cork University Hospital suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle has also be taken to hospital with serious injuries. The third driver has not required any hospital treatment.

The stretch of the road where the incident occured at about 6pm is currently closed for forensic examinations. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision to contact Bandon Garda Station on 023 885 2200 or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line at 1 800 666 111.
