Teenage male pedestrian dies after road collision on N17 in Mayo

The incident took place at approximately 9.20pm yesterday evening.

A YOUNG MALE pedestrian has been killed in a road incident in Co Mayo.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after an accident on the N17 near Claremorris at approximately 9.20pm yesterday evening. 

His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place. The road has been closed by gardaí ahead of a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, and were travelling on the N17 between Claremorris and Knock yesterday evening between 8.45pm and 9.30pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

The teenager was killed on the same road where Úna Bowden and her two daughters, Ciara and Saoirse - died last Tuesday.
