The new RCSI building has installed robotic mannequins that can simulate the birthing process.
THIS BRAND NEW robotic birthing simulator is being used to teach students at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) facility in Dublin.
The country’s largest medical school recently opened a state-of-the-art new building in the city centre, which the RCSI says is the largest and most-modern facility of its kind in Europe.
Clinical simulation and virtual reality tools like this are part of a drive to move medical training away from traditional classroom set-ups.
The centre’s director said the birthing simulator would help build up students’ interpersonal skills as well as their technical abilities.
