Third person to appear in court over serious assault that left victim in critical condition

The injured man is still in hospital.

A MAN IN his 20s is to appear before a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court this evening charged in connection with a serious assault.

The incident occurred on 17 July, when gardaí received reports of an injured man on the main street in Carrick-on-Shannon.

When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man lying on the road.

It’s believed the man was injured in an altercation involving a group of people that occurred around 4am.

The injured man was transferred to Beaumont Hospital and remains in critical condition.

The man before the court this evening was arrested yesterday and is the third person to appear before the courts in relation to the assault.

A man and a woman arrested on 29 July have been charged in connection with the incident.
