Woman in her 70s dies in Cavan house fire
The fire was reported on Church Street in the town this afternoon.
GARDAÍ HAVE OPENED an investigation into a house fire in Cavan town in which a woman in her 70s lost her life.
The fire was reported at Church Street in the town by neighbours at 2.15pm this afternoon. Emergency services subsequently attended the scene.
The woman’s body was discovered in the house and has been taken to Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A technical examination is to be carried out at the scene.
Church Street in the town is currently closed as a result of the fire. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
