First things first: the weather.

Met Éireann says the day will be cold, bright and quite breezy, with some sunny spells and fairly widespread heavy showers.

Temperatures will reach just seven degrees, so wrap up warm before heading out.

Watch out if you’re taking the N2.

Also in Dublin, Poplar Row remains closed in both directions between Ballybough Road junction and Annesley Bridge Road junction following an incident last night.

Here are the latest AA Roadwatch updates from around the country:

• In Tipperary, there’s been a collision in the right lane of the M7 southbound between J25 Nenagh Centre and J26 Nenagh West
• In Cavan, there are patches of black ice on the N3 Dublin/Cavan Road on the Cavan side of Virginia, as well as on the R178 Carrickmacross/Baileborough Road
• In Clare, a crash on the M18 Galway/Limerick Road southbound between J14 Barefield and J15 Crusheen has just been moved off the road

And here’s what the city centre looks like:

Let’s look at how things are moving back in Dublin:

• The N7 Naas Rd is slow inbound from Newlands Flyover to the M50 Interchange 
• Travelling in on the N4 Lucan Rd, traffic is heavy from J4 Newcastle to Palmerstown Bypass
• Further along the same route, the right turn for Kilmainham is busy from the Con Colbert Road 
• Nearby, traffic is heavy from Parkgate St onto the North Quays, which are busy from Inns Quay to Bachelors Walk
• Inbound on the Swords Road is picking up from Collins Avenue to Drumcondra
• Fairview is slow through to the Five Lamps on Amiens Street
• Guild Street southbound is getting busy approaching the Samuel Beckett bridge
• Delays are building eastbound from Ranelagh to Leeson Street bridge along the Grand Canal
• Traffic is busy on the M50 southbound from J7 Lucan to J9 Red Cow

Stuck in Edgeworthstown? Bus transfers are being organised for stranded train passengers.

A collision on the M50 southbound at the top of the on-ramp from J11 Tallaght has blocked the left lane.

There are also reports of a crash on the N22 Tralee/Killarney Road in Kerry just outside Tralee before the turn off for Farmer’s Bridge.

We’re not all about traffic news, you know. Here’s what else everyone’s talking about this morning:

A two-car collision on the on-ramp from the N7 inbound to the M50 northbound is causing delays in the right lane.

In Galway, traffic is busy heading into the city centre on the N84 Headford Road from Ballinfoyle to the Bóthar na dTreabh junction.

Nearby, it’s slow from Loughgeorge to Claregalway on the N17 Tuam Road, as well as on Ballybrit Crescent travelling into Galway Technology Park.

There’s also been a crash on the M1 southbound at J5 Balbriggan in the hard shoulder. Take care on approach.

Gardaí in Cork have warned motorists of black ice on the R627 Midleton/Dungourney Road.

Nearby, traffic lights are out of action on the N25 Cork/Waterford Road in Castlemartyr.

Also in Cork:

In Limerick, it’s slow now on the Corbally Road inbound from Westbury to Athlunkard Street. Inbound traffic is also heavy on O’Connell Avenue from South Circular Road past Punches Cross.
