Remains in Dublin Mountains are those of missing Elaine O’Hara

The 36-year-old Dublin woman has been missing since August last year.

Updated 11.45pm

THE REMAINS FOUND in the Dublin Mountains over the weekend are those of missing woman Elaine O’Hara.

The body discovered by a walker on Saturday has been formally identified as the 36-year-old who was reported missing on 22 August 2012.

Her family had last seen her in Dublin on that Wednesday evening. Her car was later found at Shanganagh Cemetery, where her mother is buried.

The cause of death has not been revealed and investigations continue. Gardaí in Blackrock say they are investigating all the circumstances of the discovery and have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have seen Elaine between when she was last seen at Ballinclea Heights, Killiney and when her body was discovered on the 13 September 2013 at Kilakee Mountain, Rathfarnham to contact them.

Initial speculation that the remains could belong to one of the women whose disappearances are being investigated by Operation Trace was ruled out by gardaí.
