when i heard of this i shed a tear as all i could see was his little uniform laid out for school this morning and his school bag, poor little mite god help his mum

Beyond devastating! I’ve been looking at the little ones trotting off to the school across the road from me and I can’t imagine how his poor parents are going to deal with this. RIP x

I echo what was mentioned above, there is simply no need for having a picture of the poor father which must be shortly after the most terrible experience. Serves zero purpose.

My youngest is nine and I couldn’t bear being without him or my other son. Words couldn’t describe how his family and friends are feeling.

On the red thumbs issue, and I’m only suggesting something here, I suspect they represent a genuine disapproval of what might be seen as pointless comments.
A child has died – this is clearly tragic. Individual RIP comments might be seen to be akin to spam to be scrolled through to find some genuinely interesting comments. That it’s sad that a child has died doesn’t need to be said, it’s not like there is an alternative position.

Is there no way to disable the thumbs down on comments for stories like this ? If not then comments should be disabled completely. The thumbs down on many of the comments above are completely inappropriate.

I think alot of people misinterpret the whole thumbs down thing, instead of meaning to be disrespectful they are actually referring to the thumbs down as a “dislike this storey” or a sad face and aswell I have an iPhone and iv hit the thumbs down button on more then 1 occasion accidentally
