Gardaí make fresh appeal about fatal Kildare crash

A motorcyclist and a passenger died in the collision yesterday afternoon.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING A fatal crash in Kildare yesterday afternoon have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.

They wish to speak to any motorists who were travelling on the N78 road joining Athy to the M9 between 1.30pm and 3pm Friday.

Two people died in the two vehicle collision at Ballycullane. A third, the driver of the car who is a man in his 80s, was seriously injured and remains in hospital.

The deceased included a young motorcyclist who was in his 20s and the passenger of the car, a woman in her 80s. It is understood that all three live in the area.

Three people have been killed in collisions on since gardaí implemented their Operation Slow Down on Friday. A man in his 30s died in Kerry last night after the van he was driving lost control and hit a tree. He became the 78th person to die on Irish roads in 2013.
