Gardaí release man arrested over taxi driver assault

The man had been arrested in relation to the serious assault on a 41-year-old taxi driver in Dublin in the early hours of Monday morning.

A MAN ARRESTED in relation to a serious assault on a Dublin taxi driver has been released without charge.

Gardaí had arrested the man following the attack on a 41-year-old man on Pearse Street in the early hours of Monday morning.

The driver was reported to have been attacked by a lone male, who left the scene and walked in the direction of Erne Street at approximately 12.20am on Monday morning.

A number of papers named the driver as Moses Ayanwole. His family are said to be keeping vigil by his bedside in St James’s Hospital, where his condition has been described as serious.

Gardaí have said that a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and forwarded on its completion.
