GARDAÍ IN CORK are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that left an eight-year-old girl dead.
Two cars collided at Owenahincha Cross, Rosscarbery, Clonakilty at around 3pm this afternoon.
The girl was fatally injured and her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.
A second female passenger in her early 30s has been brought to Cork University Hospital with critical injuries and is receiving treatment.
The driver of the car and three other passengers received minor injuries.
The 17-year-old driver of the other car, who was the sole occupant, is being treated for minor injuries.
The road has been closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision examination and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing to any persons who may have been in the area to contact Clonakilty Garda Station on 023 – 8821570 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
