Gardaí launch 'serious investigation' into death of man in Kilkenny

The man has been named as 42-year-old Anthony Barrett.

GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED a “serious investigation” into the death of a man whose body was found at a house in Kilkenny on Thursday.

It is understood that the man’s death is being treated as suspicious. The man has been named as 42-year-old Anthony Barrett, originally from Castlecomer but living on Parliament Street in Kilkenny. His body was discovered at a house in Fatima Place at 7pm.

Gardaí said that a postmortem has been carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabbar but they are not releasing any information about the cause of death for “operational reasons”.

Gardaí in Kilkenny have appealed for anyone who was around Fatima Place between Wednesday and Thursday evening to contact the incident room at Kilkenny Garda station on 056 – 777 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
