45-year-old man arrested in connection with Kevin Kearney murder

The father of four was shot dead last week after dropping his daughter off at school.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Kevin Kearney in Belfast last Tuesday.

The body of the 46-year-old father of four was found in a lake in Alexandra Park last week, having been shot just after dropping his daughter off at school.

Police described the killing as cold-blooded and a group identifying themselves as “the IRA” claimed responsibility for the shooting the following day.

A 39-year-old who was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder investigation was released yesterday but police said today a 45-year-old is now in custody for questioning.

He was arrested in north Belfast earlier this afternoon and has been taken to the Serious Crime Branch at Antrim police station.
