AN BORD PLEANALA has granted planning permission for the expansion of Kildare Village shopping outlet.
The expansion, will create 36 new retail units, creating 380 permanent jobs. It is projected the development will cost €50 million.
Specialising in the sale of designer and luxury products at discount prices, Kildare Village already has 60 shopping units.
Construction jobs
The construction of the new units will create a further 120 jobs. At present, the shopping outlet which opened in 2007 just off the M7, employs 550 people.
Kildare County Council told TheJournal.ie: “The Council is reviewing the decision of An Bord Pleanala.”
The Director of Kildare Village, Maria McGovern said that she was pleased with the decision and the fact it would be creating more employment for the region.
“The international investment in the region will give the necessary critical mass to enhance the overall experience of Kildare Village, making it an even more attractive shopping destination for national and international tourist visitors to the town and surrounding areas,” she said.
