She had been missing from a Dublin hospital since Monday.

Updated 4.14pm

THE BODY OF missing woman Marian Power has been found.

Gardaí, civil defence and members of the public had been searching for her since Monday.

Known as ‘Mitch’ and ‘Mars’ to friends, Marian was last seen walking away from St Edmundsbury hospital in Lucan at around 9am on 12 January.

Her son Alymer had begun a campaign to find his 61-year-old mother, explaining that she was a low-risk patient at the psychiatric ward and was free to leave of her own accord.

Volunteers gathered at the hospital at 9am this morning to begin a search, coordinated by the civil defence and which focused on Lucan and the surrounding area.

Gardaí confirmed this afternoon that the body found had been identified as Marian Power.

Her body was recovered from the River Liffey in the Strawberry Beds area of the city.
