Two men charged over mortars seizure

The men were charged with possession of explosives with intent to endanger life and possession of articles for terrorist purposes.

TWO MEN HAVE been charged in connection with the seizure of mortars in Derry.

The PSNI said this evening that detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the seizure of mortars in the Letterkenny Road/Lone Moor Road area in Derry on Sunday night, 3 March, have charged a 35 -year-old man and a 37-year-old man with:

  • Possession of explosives with intent to endanger life
  • Possession of articles for terrorist purposes
  • And conspiracy to cause an explosion

They are due to appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Wednesday, 6 March.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Two males, aged 37 and 31, remain in custody.
