Mother and five children killed in London fire

Police say they are not treating the deaths as suspicious, but are investigating this morning’s fatal fire.

SIX MEMBERS of the same family have died following a fire at a house in Neasden, north-west London, in the early hours of this morning.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed this afternoon that a 41-year-old woman and five children aged between two and 14 years died in the incident.

Another child, a 16-year-old girl, and the father of the family have been taken to hospital, where the girl’s condition is understood to be critical. The father, aged 51, is thought to be in stable condition.

Firefighters from four stations attended the blaze after the alarm was raised shortly before 1am today and brought the fire under control by 2.5oam. Police say they are not treating the deaths as suspicious, but an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.

The BBC reports that the family is thought to be Palestinian and the local community is stunned by the deaths.
