Poll: Is it time Greece caught a break from the EU?

The beleaguered nation’s future is up for grabs at an EU crisis summit at present.

GREECE HAS EXPERIENCED a torrid few months since the ascent of left-wing group Syriza to power in January’s elections as it struggles manfully to reach an agreement on its debts.

At crunch EU talks yesterday the Union voted to give the Greeks a two day reprieve after they submitted their latest debt-reform proposals.

Last weekend Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis said in an opinion piece that Irish feelings of superiority towards his country are “not helpful”. However, it seems that our own Michael Noonan was one of the toughest talkers at yesterday’s crisis summit.

Given our own recent bailout, is it time both ourselves and the EU cut Greece some slack?

We’re asking: Is it time the EU gave Greece a break?

Poll Results:

Yes (4321)
No (3612)
I'm not sure (749)
I don't care (273)
