Cork: Man dies after car hits wall in early morning crash

The man in his 40s was the sole occupant of the car which crashed in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A MAN HAS died after his car hit a wall in Co Cork in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Gardaí have confirmed that the 40-year-old man was the sole occupant of a car which struck a wall at Ardigole Bridge on the R572 Bantry to Castletownbere Road yesterday morning between 2am and 3am.

The deceased man was taken to Castletownbere and a post mortem is due to take place tomorrow at Cork University Hospital.

The R572 at Adrigole Bridge was closed last night to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Investigating Gardaí have appealed for witnesses travelling in that area between 2am and 12pm yesterday to contact Bantry Garda Station on 027 20860, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
