Rolf Harris to be charged with seven counts of indecent assault

The new charges relate to seven complainants aged between 12 and 27.

FORMER ENTERTAINER ROLF Harris is to be charged with seven counts of indecent assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service in Britain announced the charges today, which relate to alleged offences carried out between 1971 and 2007.

The seven complainants were aged between 12 and 27 at the time of the alleged incidents.

A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said that it was in the public interest for Harris to be charged.

“We have carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service as part of Operation Yewtree in relation to Rolf Harris,” the spokesperson said.

“Having completed our review…. we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Harris to be charged with seven counts of indecent assault”.

Harris will appear in court in London on 17 March in connection with the charges.
