A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was sexually assaulted twice – by two different men - as she travelled home from a festival on a train travelling between Newquay and Plymouth in England.
The girl had been travelling back from the Boardmasters festival in Cornwall when the assaults happened between 8.45pm and 9pm on Saturday 12 August.
As she boarded the train, a man approached her and asked if she needed help with her luggage.
Once on the train, the man sat next to the girl and asked if she wanted a kiss, which she refused. He then started tickling the girl and attempted to take her phone.
The girl moved to a different seat where the second assault happened.
She was then approached by another man, and she explained to him what the first man did. The second man proceeded to sexually assault her by kissing her and touching her and himself inappropriately.
British Transport Police (BTP) are urging witnesses to the sexual assaults on board Great Western Railway service to come forward.
The first suspect is a white man with pale skin and ginger hair. He was wearing a white shirt with a palm tree on it, blue shorts and had a novelty shark hat on.
The second suspect is a white man, with mousy hair and pronounced sideburns. He had a white polo shirt on and camo shorts. He claimed his name was Lance.
Investigating officer DC Matt Grieve said: “This was a deeply upsetting and shocking incident for this young woman and we are urgently seeking witnesses.
“If you were on-board this train and witnessed what happened, or saw two men acting suspiciously, then I would urge you to get in touch. Your information could prove vital to our enquiries to understand what happened, and who is responsible.”
Any information can be passed to BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800-40-50-40 quoting reference 423 of 16/08/2017. Alternatively, people with information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
