Suspect in murder of Eastenders actress set to face extradition after being found hiding in Ghana

Sian Blake and her two children were found dead in her home last week.

THE MAN SUSPECTED of the murder of Eastenders actress Sian Blake and her children will reportedly be remanded in custody before trial for extradition from Ghana to the UK.

Arthur Simpson-Kent, Blake’s boyfriend, was arrested in Ghana over the weekend in connection with the murder of her and their two young sons.

Investigators tracked Simpson-Kent to undergrowth near the seaside town of Butre, where he was taken into custody Saturday in connection with the death of the former EastEnders actress and their two children Zachary, 8, and Amon, 4.

Both Sky News and BBC News are reporting that he will be remanded in custody in Ghana.

BBC News reports that he appeared in court Kaneshie Magistrates’ Court in Accra today and has been remanded for two weeks.

Although official extradition request has yet to be submitted by the British government, he has been told that he will face an extradition hearing.

Blake and her children were last seen on December 13 in their south east London neighbourhood, and Simpson-Kent was questioned three days later over their disappearance.

The bodies of the boys and their mother were discovered earlier this month in the garden of their home. The three bodies found at her home last Tuesday were formally identified on Saturday.

Blake is best known for her mid-1990s role on EastEnders, which follows the lives of neighbours in a fictional borough of London.

Simpson-Kent flew to Ghana just days after he was questioned by investigators in Britain.

“While escaping from the United Kingdom, (Simpson-Kent) travelled to Glasgow in Scotland, from where he flew to Ghana via Amsterdam on 19 December, 2015,” police told reporters following his arrested.

Authorities said “intelligence gathered on the ground” led them to Simpson-Kent, but did not elaborate.

He was arrested after being “smoked from a thicket” and was armed with a knife.
