Body recovered after search on the River Boyne

The rescue effort has been ongoing since around 10.30am.

A BODY HAS been recovered after a multi-agency search of the River Boyne.

This took place on an area of the river near Drogheda.

The search started shortly after 10.30am yesterday morning when a member of the public contacted the gardaí.

Arriving at the scene the gardaí initially observed the body but it is understood that after that it floated out of sight.

After that the Irish Coastguard has joined in with the rescue efforts along with local service the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery.

It is understood the operation concluded at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.
