1. #GAZA: Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan has said the bombing of a UN-run school in Gaza was an ‘atrocity’. The Minister met with Israel’s ambassador to Ireland today and raised ‘grave concerns’ at the escalation of violence.

2. #STRRRRIKE: Irish Rail employees are set to hold a one-day work stoppage on 25 August if planned pay cuts go ahead.

3. #NOT GUILTY: John Brown, the brother of singer Dana, has been cleared of all five counts of sexual abuse at a court in London. The 60-year-old had denied the charges.

4. #NOT FINE: The UN has warned Ireland that it should stop sending people to prison for not paying fines, and needs to consider an alternative way to deal with the problem.

5. #THAR SHE BLOWS: A build-up of gas has been blamed for the explosion of a manhole cover on a street in Dublin city centre. The dramatic moment was captured on video:
