2. #SINN FÉIN: Mary Lou McDonald has defended Gerry Adams amid allegations that he was part of a cover-up of sexual abuse in the IRA in the late 1990s. Maíria Cahill has claimed that the IRA failed to report her alleged rape by a prominent republican figure.

3. #CEASEFIRE: More than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in April are expected to be released after Nigeria’s government reportedly reached a deal with the rebels.

4. #COURTS: A court has ruled that a Catholic priest who claimed joint ownership of a house he shared with his former partner is entitled to a 27% share of the property, RTE reports.

5. #IT’S NEVER OVER: Garth Brooks has confirmed that he will definitely not be playing any gigs in Ireland next year, despite some reports to the contrary. That’s that, then.
