1. #BIG PHILLY STYLE: Environment Minister Phil Hogan has defended the handling of the Irish Water controversy as he faces calls to resign over the State utility company’s €86 million spend on consultants, contractors and legal services.
2. #MISCONDUCT: The Medical Council has begun an inquiry into a doctor over how he treated a 20-year-old woman from Dublin who died of pneumonia the day after he saw her in June 2007, RTÉ reports.
3. #NEW LOOK: It began as the Inter many years ago, but the Junior Cert has now been given a new name: The Junior Cycle Student Award. The all-changed second-level programme is being phased in from this September.
