Never too old

6 female brand spokespeople who show age is just a number

Legendary women who can still promote a product.

YOU’RE NEVER TOO old to continue making a living from modelling. If you’re Claudia Schiffer that is.

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Guess jeans decided to go with a pro and did a photoshoot with the 41-year-old German model.

The photoshoot revisited some of Schiffer’s well-known shots from the 1990s. She is now a married mother of three.

Good to see that Guess Jeans agree that you can still wear tight jeans over the age of 30.

It’s no secret that Hollywood puts a premium on youth and beauty but is the fashion and beauty world seeing the error of their ways? Here are just a few inspirational ladies who can still promote a product like its no one’s business:

Jane Fonda: Not only does she look great for her age (no wonder she has her own ad campaign) but she is also a legendary actress and activist. L’oreal have chosen Fonda as their spokesperson for the older generation showing that at 74, women don’t need a blue rinse and a shawl.

Jennifer Aniston: This advert for Smartwater really says it all about how even an ad with her in it needs something else to get hits. At 45, there is no wonder why this water brand thought she was the best girl for the job. The reason everyone loves Jen is because she does stuff like this.

Twiggy: She was one of the world’s most famous models in the 1960s and M&S still think she has what  it takes to sell clothes. Last week Twiggy criticised stores that categorised clothing ranges according to age group stating that it was ‘insulting’. Speaking at the launch of her first collection for Marks & Spencer, (pictured below) the 62-year-old model said that she intended her designs to be ageless.

Helen Mirren: At 66 years old, British actress Helen Mirren shows the world that she still likes to stay active – and she uses technology to do so. She says she feels young and modern exercising through a video console. Whatever works for you, Helen.

Iris Apfel: MAC announced this year that 90-year-old Apfel was to be their new spokeswoman. The legendary interior designer/fashion icon said that life doesn’t stop at 30.
