ALDI IS WARNING its customers that a coupon purporting to give them 40% off in the store over Christmas is fake and cannot be redeemed.

The coupon is hosted on a website titled ‘Coupons for Christmas’ and says it entitles the holder to 40% off in Aldi up the New Year’s Eve.

The link claims customers can claim the coupon by sharing it on Facebook and commenting underneath.

It’s not just in Ireland that the fake coupon has been a problem, with Aldi in the UK and the US also warning their customers to stay away from it.

On the coupon fake itself, the date is written in the American style and some of the ‘terms and conditions’ also use some North American sounding language.

Aldi Ireland is attempting to stop the fake coupon spreading further by posting a notice on its Facebook page, explaining that the voucher is not real.
