Amateur photographers: Can you beat these?

If you reckon you have a sharp eye and are quick on the shutter button, read on…

IRELAND IS A pretty beautiful place, especially in the right light. And even though millions of tourists flock here each year, there are many hidden treasures.

The following photos – taken by amateurs – try to capture moments in the day and a new view or angle on the familiar.

If you think you could do better, you can enter the Top Oil annual amateur photography competition by clicking here - the winner gets €1,000, so that’s not a bad day’s work.

The theme is ‘Ireland Uncovered’ and is, we’re told, “about looking at Ireland with fresh eyes”. The top 12 entries also will feature in the company’s 2015 calendar. Deadline is 31 May.
