Woman charged with murder of 3-year-old boy in Antrim

Three-year-old Brendan Owens was found dead at a house on 4 July.

POLICE HAVE CONFIRMED that a woman arrested in connection with the death of a 3-year-old boy in Lisburn, Co Antrim, has been charged with murder.

The 27-year-old woman was arrested yesterday and questioned by police about the death of the boy, named as Brendan Owens, whose body was found at a house on Trinity Terrace on 4 July.

Police also arrested a 51-year-old man but he was released yesterday evening on bail pending further enquiries.

A post mortem examination proved inconclusive but detectives said yesterday they were treating the case as a murder investigation.

The charged woman is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court tomorrow.
