Apple's week goes from bad to worse as it apologises for buggy iOS8 update

The update meant some users were unable to make or receive calls and caused issues with users’ Touch ID feature.

APPLE HAS COME out and apologised for releasing an iOS8 update which left some users unable to make or receive calls.

The update, iOS 8.0.1, came exactly a week after the new operating system was officially released.

It went live last night before being quickly taken down after users reported dropped phone signals and problems with Touch ID.

Apple said it’s working on a new version, iOS 8.0.2, that would fix the issue and will be released in the next few days.

We apologise for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days.

As a workaround, the company published a support document which allows users to reinstall iOS8 through iTunes.

The error comes after Apple experienced a number of setbacks since it first announced the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Users were annoyed when it released the new U2 album for free and saw the album automatically download onto their devices without their permission. Apple then had to provide instructions showing people how to remove it.

Also, claims that the iPhone 6 bends after it’s placed in users’ pockets emerged this week, although it’s unclear whether this is a widespread problem or not.

I once had a dream there was some sort of clerical error and I had to go back and do 6th year all over again at 30 years old. Still the worst nightmare I’ve ever had.

I admire him for going back and doing it but there’s a window of time where the LC is relevant after which you realise it’s just a hill of beans.

I really admire anyone who goes back to education, for me it’s not “I got an A in this or an honour in that, a degree in this”, although all credit to those who do. It’s that they had the cojones to go back and try where the rest of us just talk about it. Fair play.

@Brian Boru: 13 major US companies including google have dropped employee requirement for degrees this last year. They’ve copped the fact US university education isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

For over 20 years now Irish professors have been regularly saying that the Irish secondary school education has been dumbed down so much that the students who present to university are ill equipped in every facet of their education.

Something is seriously wrong. Out of curiosity and concern I downloaded the leaving papers in multiple subjects over the course of the last 15 years or so, and I was shocked at what i saw. Ideological nonsense has infiltrated the education system. That’s not education. Its brainwashing. English and history as subjects sermed to be particularly badly hit.

@Skeptical: In what way have English and History been hit by ideological nonsense? Just curious. Not looking for an argument.

Bear in mind that in the last 15 years there has been a dramatic fall in the number of students who read consistently leading to significantly reduced vocabularies and an impaired ability to read and think critically.

@Christopher O’Brien: Maybe not ideological nonsense, but for the subjects your mention, English and History, how will students, who have learned off multiple essays in preparation for leaving certificate examination in both, make said student more employable to google?

The entire leaving cert model AND culture being imposed on schools of molly cuddling and, replacing what should be the role of parents, in areas such as physical and mental health. Combine this with the Dumbing down of every major qualification from Jun cert, to Phd, which makes an absolute mockery of the Irish education system. Every third person you speak to these days starting or in the middle of a Phd? What value is this to them? Will this result in better jobs opprtunity in terms of pay? What will 2000 people with Phds in social science work as? I have serious doubts. Grade inflation has meant that people feel the need to have a Phd, where people doing the same job had a Degree 20-30 years ago. Only people who win from this is the third level institutions

@Skeptical: if the students who present after the ‘dumbed down LC’ are ill equipped for university what happens to them?
Do they fail and repeat; drop out, or do your quothed university professors say that their own courses have been dumbed down in response?
Either logic is turned on its head or your anecdote is fallacious.
It is so easy to be skeptical without a benchmark for logic.
