AS THE CAMPAIGN for the presidential election hits its final stretch, check out where you can meet the candidates today.
Mary Davis will start the day on Clare FM at 9am, before addressing Transition Year students at Colaiste Mhuire in Ennis. Later she’ll head to canvass on O’Connell St in Limerick for 10:30am, before dropping into Limerick’s Live 95fm at 11:30am. From there she moves to the University of Limerick to canvass from noon, and will visit St Anne’s secondary school in Tipperary Town from 2pm. After that she heads to Naas GAA club for a photoshoot with Kildare footballing star Johnny Doyle, before heading to Citywest for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Sean Gallagher begins the day at a small business conference at the RDS (8:30am) before heading to Drimnagh to visit the St John Bosco Youth Centre from 10am. At 11:30 he’ll visit the Camera education charity at 11:30am, before canvassing at Grand Canal Square in Dublin at 12:30pm. At 5pm he will head to Citywest to attend the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Michael D Higgins will begin the day being interviewed by Pat Kenny at RTÉ at 1am, before attending a ‘Women for Michael D Higgins’ event at the Alexander Hotel at 11:30am. Later he heads to Maynooth to participate in a presidential debate – notably, no other candidates have announced this in their diaries – before later heading to Citywest, again for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Martin McGuinness will campaign in Cashel, Co Tipperary, giving interviews at Halla na Féile from 1pm. Later he will travel to RTÉ to appear on the Six One news.
Gay Mitchell will canvass in the south-west, beginning in Limerick city at 9:45am where he will canvass on O’Connell St before a walkabout. At 11am he will visit the Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership on Roxboro Road. At 1pm he hits Ennis, having lunch in the Templegate Hotel, before then heading to Limerick where he will attend the 5th Midwest Business Showcase at Dell’s campus in Raheen. In the evening he will head to Charleville, dropping in at St Joseph’s Foundation (4:45pm). He’ll end the day with a rally at the Silver Spring Hotel in Cork at 8pm.
David Norris will campaign at Lucan town centre at 10:30am, before heading to Maynooth to canvass from noon. Later he’ll head back to Blanchardstown IT at 2:30pm, and then move onto Skerries to canvass from 4:15pm.
Dana Rosemary Scallon will keep the engagements she was due to make yesterday before her tyre blow-out – canvassing in Arklow at 10:30am, heading to Gorey at noon, before continuing onto Wexford town at 3pm. At 4pm she’ll stop by South East Radio before heading on to Waterford where she will canvass from 5pm.
