TWO MEN HAVE been hospitalised following an incident involving a shooting in Tallaght.

The incident, which saw a vehicle strike a pedestrian, has resulted in one man (30s) in a critical but stable condition and another man (20s) with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí have secured “a number of crime scenes” in the Kiltalown area of Jobstown for examination as part of the investigation into what happened in the course of the attack shortly after 5pm today.

A car believed to be connected to the incident was discovered ablaze and abandoned on nearby Mount Seskin Road. 

Investigators have established an incident room at Tallaght Garda Station and a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to the case.

A garda spokesperson said they are investigating “the unlawful discharge of a firearm” and a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Gardaí and emergency services had responded to reports of an incident in the Kiltalown area of Jobstown.

“In the course of the incident a number of shots were fired at a house and a man in his 30s was seriously injured after he was stuck by a car,” gardaí said in a statement.

The injured man was removed from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.

A second male (20s) injured in the course of the incident was also removed to Tallaght Hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.
