A MAN HAS been arrested at Dublin Airport as part of an ongoing investigation into romance fraud.
The matter had been reported to gardaí late last year by a woman who alleged she had been defrauded of a significant amount of cash over a number of months.
Gardaí from Dundalk made the arrest today at Dublin Airport.
The man, aged in his 30s, has been detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region.
Romance fraud often involves a scammer using digital means to convince someone that they are romantically interested in them in order to manipulate them into sending money, sensitive financial information, or making financial decisions that will benefit the scammer.
