Man charged with burglary and attempted arson over Ballymena riots

The man is expected to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today.

A MAN HAS been charged with multiple offences in Northern Ireland in connection with the riots that occurred in Ballymena earlier in the summer.

The 35-year-old man was arrested yesterday by Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) detectives investigating public disorder in the Clonavon Terrace area of Ballymena in June.

He has since been charged with several offences, including riot, burglary, criminal damage and attempted arson.

The man is expected to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today.

The PSNI have arrested more than 50 people to date in relation to the riots, which saw several nights of violence and vandalism targeting various buildings and the homes of immigrants.
