Section of Dublin's O'Connell Street reopens after traffic incident caused closure earlier

Delays had been flagged for anyone travelling through the city centre.

A SECTION OF O’Connell Street in Dublin has reopened following a serious road traffic incident earlier this afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services had been at the scene of an incident after a bus collided with a male pedestrian in the heart of the city centre at approximately 12:15pm this afternoon.

The man, aged in his 30s, was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Delays were expected if travelling in the area according to gardaí.

As a result of the incident, O’Connell Street southbound had been closed from Cathal Brugha Street north of the Liffey up to O’Connell Bridge.

Dublin Bus had also confirmed that its services were disrupted due to the road traffic incident.

All services are being diverted via Cathal Brugha St, Marlborough St, Burgh Quay to the normal route at D’Olier Street, a notice by Dublin Bus said.
