• The trial of a man accused of the murder of pregnant woman Natalie McNally in Co Armagh a week before Christmas in 2022 got underway at Belfast Crown Court. 
• The Minister for Sport said he wants to pause “all” astroturf funding after flares thrown in the crowd of a League of Ireland game resulted in an injury to a 12-year-old supporter.
• Two men who died at an Ironman event in Co Cork in 2023 passed away within ten minutes of each other after strenuous efforts to resuscitate them failed, an inquest heard.
• New garda figures show there was a surge in reports of fraud in Ireland in 2025, despite a fall in most major crimes.
• The inquest into the death of Noah Donohoe, who was found in a storm drain in Belfast in 2020, heard that the schoolboy could have hurt his head falling off his bicycle. 
• Some 170 landowners with over 2,300 hectares of land between them joined a programme aimed at protecting Ireland’s most vulnerable bird species.

The Foo Fighters are due to take to the stage in the next half an hour for their sold-out gig at The Academy in Dublin. 

Fans of the US rock band scrambled to get tickets yesterday when the surprise show in the 800-odd capacity venue was announced. 

The band, fronted by Dave Grohl, also played a surprise gig in St James’ Church in Dingle yesterday. The Venue seats around 80 people.
