Heavy rain to hit six Munster and Leinster counties under Status Orange warning this morning
It is expected to lift at 10am.
A STATUS RAIN orange warning has taken effect for six counties across Munster and Leinster.
Met Éireann said “very heavy” thundery rain, potential flooding and wave overtopping can be expected for the duration of the warning in Cork, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow.
Cork was not initially included but has been added to the warning early on Sunday.
The weather alert, which was announced at 1am Sunday, took effect at 6am.
It is expected to lift at 10am.
Potential impacts include flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.
Met Éireann added that the combination of spring tides, surge and strong onshore winds may result in wave overtopping along southern and southeastern coastlines.
