Barnardos' call for unwanted Christmas presents
They say their appeal is even greater now because of a significant decrease in donations, while more and more families seek help.
THE DODGY JUMPER aunty Mary gave you, soaps, books, toys, CDs, whatever it might be, Barnardos are calling for people to donate their unwanted Christmas presents.
“Donating an unwanted Christmas gift can make a huge difference to vulnerable children and families,” says the charity who launched their Unwanted Gifts appeal today.
Gifts can be donated to one of Barnardos’ seven shops, located in Carlow, Wexford, Cork, Rathmines, Clondalkin, Kilbarrack and Dun Laoghaire.
Spokesperson for the charity, Bernadette Harrington, said that donations are more important now than ever before because there “has been a significant decrease in donations and at the same time we are seeing more and more families in Ireland in need of our services”.
“Rather than having those gifts go dusty in the closet pass them on to a Barnardos shop and turn them into something meaningful,” she said.
