Bill Clinton plans October trip to Belfast

Former US president to arrive ahead of Hillary Clinton’s summit in support of Northern Ireland investment.

FORMER US PRESIDENT Bill Clinton is planning to return to Belfast

for a brief visit next month ahead of his wife’s participation in an economic conference focussing on Northern Ireland.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will host the summit in Washington to promote investment and job creation in the North.

Hillary was one of the most vociferous international leaders in lending her support to the power sharing agreement in Northern Ireland:

Bill Clinton played a direct role in the peace process, and first visited Belfast in 1995, when he turned on the city’s Christmas lights.

Further details of his trip have yet to be announced, but is expected to visit before the Washington summit is held on 19 October.
