Poll: Will removing baby images from formula encourage breastfeeding?

The images of smiling babies could discourage breastfeeding, according to some parents’ groups and politicians.

A NEW EU law means makers of milk formula and other foods for infants will not be allowed place photographs of babies on their packaging.

According to Irish MEP Nessa Childers, the images currently used “idealise” the use of such products. It is hoped that by removing them, more mothers will choose breastfeeding.

“We cannot allow parents to be misled. Babies’ health is too important to be left in the hands of a multinational company’s marketing department,” said Childers.

We want to know if it is a good idea, and more importantly, will it work? Do you think the removal of images from formula tins will encourage breastfeeding?
