Central Bank had already rejected Anglo restructure

THE CENTRAL BANK had rejected Anglo Irish Bank’s proposed restructure weeks ago, ahead of the European Commission’s veto of the plans this week, declaring it too expensive for the taxpayer. The Sunday Times said that governor Patrick Honohan had lodged his opposition, as had managers at the National Treasury Management Agency, weeks ago.
