Mystery solved in Co Clare after ‘lion like’ animal turns out to be ‘dog with a fresh haircut’
Gardaí say that Mouse the Newfoundland is ‘delighted with his recent viral video clip’.
THE MYSTERY OF the “lion like” creature spotted in the woods in Co Clare has been solved after gardaí confirmed it was actually a friendly dog with a “fresh haircut”.
Last week, a video was circulated online of what gardaí described as a “lion like” animal “roaming around the woods in east Clare”.
However, far from being a lion, gardaí from Killaloe have concluded that it was a dog called Mouse.
“If you go down to the woods today… it’s not a lion you will find but the very friendly Newfoundland dog named Mouse,” said a garda spokesperson from Co Clare.
The garda added that Mouse is “delighted with his recent viral video clip”.

Gardaí said the “mystery” is now solved and it “turned out the ‘lion’ spotted roaming Clare was just a Newfoundland dog with a fresh haircut”.
