Search on for missing fishermen in Co Clare

The search is on after a fishing boat didn’t return back to land today. Meanwhile, a boat has overturned in Castletown and one person is missing.

THE COAST GUARD and lifeboats are involved in a search in Co Clare for a fishing boat that has not been seen since this afternoon.

Valentia Coast Guard is coordinating the search for the 28-foot registered fishing boat that is overdue in returning to the Quilty area of Co Clare today.

There are two men on board the vessel, which was fishing at Hag’s Head at around 1pm today and was due back at 5pm.

Valentia Coast Guard said it hasn’t been seen since this afternoon.

The Doolin Coast Guard and Kilkee Coast Guard and Aran Islands lifeboat are all involved in the search for the overdue fishing boat.

The Shannon Coast Guard rescue helicopter was involved in the search but had to be sent to Castletown after a boat capsized there.

Valentia Coast Guard said that in this second incident, one person is now ashore but another person is currently missing.
