First ever Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover episode to hit screens early next year

Filming for ‘Corriedale’ began in late September and details of the storyline have been kept tightly under wraps.

FOR THE FIRST time ever, the residents of Weatherfield and the Yorkshire Dales will share the screen in the first ever crossover episode of ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

The one-hour crossover episode is titled ‘Corriedale’ and will air early next year.

Irish viewers will be able to catch the crossover special on Virgin Media Television early next year.

Filming for the episode began in late September and details of the storyline have been kept tightly under wraps.

However, some of the characters who will appear in the episode have been confirmed.

Coronation Street’s Detective Sereant Lisa Swain and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle, played by Vicky Myers and Danny Miller respectively, will appear in Corriedale.

The synopsis of the special reveals that Swain’s life has been “thrown into chaos following the shocking return from the dead of her police wife ex, Becky”.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle has seen off his ex-husband, killer John Sugden, but “just as things were looking back on track with the love of his life, Robert Sugden, Robert’s secret prison husband, Kev, turns up”.

“What leads Lisa and Aaron to find their lives intertwined on a dark and foreboding night in January?”

Vicky Myers said it’s “fantastic” to be involved in this “unique, bold, innovative, not to mention history-making episode”.

“When I read the script and found out how two worlds collide, who is involved and how the characters interact, not to mention the impact the events of the night will have… Wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”

Myers added that this has been in the “pipeline for quite some time” and that the teams have “worked tirelessly to make this happen”.

Meanwhile, Danny Miller said he “can’t wait to see how the episode plays out with the separate storylines from both Emmerdale and Corrie”.

“It’s going to be epic and every soap fan’s dream.”

Fans are told to expect “high-stakes drama and never-before-seen interactions between some of the nation’s most loved soap characters”.

The upcoming crossover has also been described as an “action-packed special that promises explosive drama, nail-biting twists, and unforgettable character interactions”.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media Television said the airing of the crossover special will mark the launch of its new ‘Soap Power Hour’ schedule, which will bring to viewers every weekday Emmerdale at 8pm followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.

Virgin Media Television’s Director of Programming, Anthony Nilan, said he’s “delighted to bring Corriedale to Irish screens”.

“This crossover is set to be one of the most talked-about TV events of 2026,” he added.
