- He was once Ireland’s richest man – but now Sean Quinn has filed for bankruptcy. The news comes after he made huge losses on a complex share investment with the now defunct Anglo Irish Bank.
- RTÉ has released the figures for its top ten earners in 2009 - Pat Kenny tops the list, which also includes Ryan Tubridy and Miriam O’Callaghan.
- Shocked residents have told TheJournal.ie that they will battle to save a nursing home in Abbeyleix from closure. The 28 elderly people currently housed at the facility will have to be relocated if it closes.
- A new bill is shortly to come into force that will target puppy farms and anyone who breeds dogs. The ISPCA and other animal welfare groups have welcomed the news.
- Are you from Cork, like? Maybe you’ll be interested in this new Cork passport that’s being suggested by a Fine Gael councillor. She’s from Cork, naturally, like.
- The Dublin Airport Authority has announced it will not increase passenger fees in 2012 - but Ryanair is not happy.
- Dublin City Council is to appeal a High Court order forcing it to cover the cost of accommodating the former residents at the Priory Hall apartment complex in Donaghmede.
- A 10-year-old girl who was reportedly raped by her stepfather has given birth in Mexico. The news has re-ignited Mexico’s heated debate about abortion.
- The Arizona Congresswoman who was shot in the head earlier this year , Gabrielle Giffords, has given her first interview – and shown the amazing progress she has made in just 10 months.
