A CONTROLLED EXPLOSION has been carried out in north Belfast following the discovery of a device in the Brookvale Avenue area this morning.
A number of homes in the area were evacuated during the security alert and Army Technical Officers (ATO) were called to the scene.
The object was declared to be an incendiary device, and a controlled explosion was subsequently carried out.
The device has now been taken away for further forensic examinations, and the security alert has been lifted.
