63-year-old Anthony Fowler

Man (22) arrested in Belfast in connection with murder of father of four in Finglas last year

He was detained today on an Irish extradition warrant.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man who is wanted in the Republic of Ireland to stand trial for the murder of a father-of-four in Dublin last year has been arrested in Belfast.

Anthony Fowler (63), also known as Josh, was fatally stabbed in Finglas on 26 November, 2024.

Fowler was found with injuries at his home on Dunsink Green, Finglas and later died in hospital.

PSNI officers this morning arrested the 22-year-old man in Belfast.

He was detained today on an Irish extradition warrant and was due to appear before Laganside Extradition Court.

A spokesperson from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit said the arrest is an “important step in progressing this murder case”.

The spokesperson added that the PSNI “continues to work closely with An Garda Siochana to locate, arrest and extradite those who attempt to run from the consequences of their actions”.

“The Irish border cannot be used to hide from police and the courts,” said the PSNI spokesperson.
