Gardaí appeal for witnesses following fatal crash in Co Waterford

A 45-year-old woman died following the collision on the N25 at Ballyduff West on the main Waterford to Dungarvan Road. A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Waterford last night.

At approximately 11.40 pm a 45-year-old woman was seriously injured when the car in which she was travelling in collided with a van on the N25 at Ballyduff West on the main Waterford to Dungarvan Road.

She was taken by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was also taken to hospital with injuries that aren’t believed to be life threatening. The van driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A male in his 40s was arrested and is currently detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Waterford Garda Station.

The road remains closed for a technical examination and traffic diversions are in place.
