Two hospitalised and Luas services disrupted as fire brigade deal with fire in city centre

Traffic diversions have been put in place as a result.

GARDAÍ AND EMERGENCY services are currently dealing with a fire at a premises on Eden Quay in Dublin city centre.

The fire is understood to be on the upper floor of a building on Eden Quay.

Two people have been brought to hospital.

 A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said the service received multiple calls at 6.39am reporting a fire in the multi-storey premises.

Seven fire engines from Tara Street, North Strand and Phibsborough fire stations are on scene along with three ambulances from Tara Street and North Strand fire stations

Operations are ongoing with firefighters in breathing apparatus fighting the fire.

Traffic diversions have been put in place as a result. The Rosie Hackett Luas bridge, which runs across the Liffey connecting Hawkins Street to Marlborough Street, is currently closed.

Green Line Luas services are currently not operating between St Stephens Green and Dominick.

A Luas spokesperson said on social media: “Services are operating between Brides Glen and St Stephens Green, and between Dominick and Broombridge only. Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of this disruption.”

One lane on Eden Quay is currently open to traffic.

A garda spokesperson said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
